Team Mommy Warriors competed in the Los Angeles MUDDY BUDDY and I am happy to say that my partner in grime and I finished the race in 9th place in our age group with a time of 1:02:01. Not too shabby for 2 moms, four kids each, both over 40, with aching joints and a 20 year old mountain bike. It wasn’t pretty, as you can see below, but we can say we did it!
You’re probably wondering, what is a Muddy Buddy? Two buddies, one mountain bike, a 7 mile grueling course, obstacles and a giant mud pit to crawl through to reach the finish line. When one buddy is running, the other is biking. Probably the hardest thing about the race was trying to figure out where your buddy left the bike at the obstacle, after all there were 1200 teams, so that would be 1200 bikes spread out on the course!
So, for all you moms out there that area active, trying to stay in shape and looking for a fun challenge, I suggest trying out a Muddy Buddy or some type of Renegade Race. After competeing in the triathlon a few months back, I decided those folks are much too serious and are totally out to win. The Muddy Buddy was tough but a hell of a good time with a beer garden at the finish line!
