Peak Models and Talent Lands Us a Photo Shoot!

A friend of mine owns Peak Models and Talent here in the LA area and she suggested I sign up my kids with her as their agent.  Why not, it couldn’t hurt right, and if they actually get a job, well, that’s an opportunity to put some money in their college fund.  Now, I didn’t run out and get professional photos done but rather, I used their school photos and some others that I had taken.

Last week, two of my kids were selected to go to a casting for a Sony TV print job for 2010.  It was downtown right after school, it probably wouldn’t take me too long, and it if they got it, it would be a nice chunk of change so, I decided to take them.

We walked into the casting, filled out the paperwork, had some photos done and within minutes we were on our way back home.  Seemed simple enough.  A few days later, I received a call that Ryan had gotten the job.  Wow, we were so excited.  I had to run downtown and get him a California Work Permit because the photo shoot was the next day, thank goodness they can turn the permit around while you wait.

I checked in with “our agent” to make sure I was clear on what to do so we didn’t embarass ourselves or the agency.  Friday morning came and we were off to a location in BelAir.  We arrived at a beautiful home high in the hills of BelAir, it was absolutely gorgeous.  There were people everywhere.  They scooted Ryan off to wardrobe and got him into his first outfit.  Next, it was off to make-up.  He rolled his eyes at me on this one, what 9 year old boy wants make-up on!  Next, he had his hair trimmed.  The photo below shows him sitting on the back deck getting done up!

He was a bit uncomfortable at first with everyone fussing over him, but them he became quite comfortable with it.  I couldn’t believe how many people were involved in making the whole thing happen.  The photographer, the assistant, the director, the producer, those making up the set, others on the lights, and many more.  My words to Ryan were, “just do whatever they ask you to do and make sure you are polite.”  He had a fun day, had lots of pictures taken and was in awe of the whole experience.  Everyone was so nice and it was a really cool  experience for a 9 year old kid.  I’m anxious to see what the final photos look like, don’t worry, you know this proud mama will be posting them!

  • This is a perfect example of a mom that ” get’s it”! Alyssa has four great kids, all of whom should be in pictures! I was so happy to be able to connect them with a top client, since working with Alyssa makes my job easy.
We are always willing to help get people started in the business if they are willing to do their part. :)
Ryan did a great job, and we are all excited to see his photos!
I think it is great to let kids see that there are jobs out there that are a bit ” outside of the box”, fun and creative :) ))
