Pediatric Cancer Research Foundation 2009 Holiday Card Program

In keeping with my holiday card topic from last week, I wanted to get the word out to our readers about a wonderful holiday card solution.  The Pediatric Cancer Research Foundation offers a beautiful holiday card program.  All the cards are designed by young oncology patients and are adorable, the profits directly benefit pediatric cancer research.

There are nearly 60 unique cards available for purchase online at www.pcrf-kids.org (and then click on 2009 Holiday Cards) and they can be shipped worldwide.

“Purchasing holiday cards designed by these budding artists is a perfect way to support young cancer patients and let your friends and family know of your support. Each artist’s photo and story is told on the back of the card,” said PCRF Executive Director Nancy Franks. “The simple act of purchasing these beautiful cards can help improve the survival rate of children with malignant diseases.”

Last year, the organization sold approximately 350,000 cards. This year, the goal is 500,000.  Eighty percent of every dollar goes directly to research that leads to medically sound treatment protocols for childhood cancers. Since PCRF’s inception in 1982, the organization has raised over $22 million in funding for research.

“The beautiful designs on these cards are a reminder of the courage and optimism these children maintain while fighting life-threatening illness. We are proud to play a part in the battle against pediatric cancer, but there is still so much that needs to be done,” said Franks.

The Pediatric Cancer Research Foundation’s 2009 Holiday Card Program is an easy and affordable way to make a difference in the lives of families that have been affected by pediatric cancer.

I’ve always been one to send out holiday photo cards to everyone on my list.  This year, I’m going to purchase some of these cards and mix it up a little to support such a wonderful cause.  The only problem I’m having is trying to decide which designs to pick!
