OMG, I just stumbled upon an email in my SPAM folder about an on-line account that I had purchased for my kids a while back, Disney’s Toontown Online. It was just a “friendly reminder” that our Toontown membership was up for renewal in 45 days and that it is an automatic renewal type of account at $49.95, twice a year!
I screamed “HOLY CRAP” at my computer! My kids haven’t played Toontown in ages and I must have been wasting $100 a year over the last few years. Rather than try to cancel on-line, I decided to call to make sure I ended it today.
The gentleman on the other end was great, he cancelled the membership, no questions asked. But I had to ask him, “how long have I been paying on this account?” His response was that our account has been active for 5 years and for the last 3 years there has been NO activity on the account. AHHHHHH
Just mark this down as yet another one of my Stupid Mom Moves~
Anyone who has a child that plays or played Toontown at some point, make sure you check it out to ensure you aren’t paying on an automatic renewal!
