Fruit Snacks and Dogs, Not a Good Combination
I had something happen on the way home from dropping the kids off at school this morning that I had to share. It’s one of those things that, at the time it was happening, I was so ticked off but two hours later I’m laughing at it and I SO wish I would have taken a picture!
Our two dogs love to go in the car every morning to make the trip over to school. Once all the kids are finally out, the dogs jump up to the front passenger seat and hang out the window. Today, only one of them made it to the front. I could hear our beagle Harley fumbling around with some kind of wrapper in the back of the car. I thought to myself, those darn kids left garbage in the back of the car again and the dog is going to rip whatever it is apart. Within a minute Harley started to whimper. I looked in the rear view mirror and could see that she was half under the third row of seats. My initial reaction was that she was stuck but she’d get herself out.
I ended up having to pull my car over on the side of the road because she wouldn’t stop whimpering and it was getting louder, I thought she was hurt. When I pulled her out from under the seat, there she was with a mouth full of gummy fruit snacks. The poor thing had them stuck in her teeth, couldn’t get her mouth open and was frantic. Here I was, on the side of the road, as the morning traffic passed me, with my butt hanging out the side of the car and pulling gummies out of my dog’s mouth, can’t you jsut visualize the picture!
I had no napkin, my hands were disgusting and as I pulled them out, slobber and all, she was trying to grab them out of my hand to eat them again.
Let’s just say mom was NOT a happy camper this morning and fruit snacks won’t be on my shopping list any time soon!
