What Happened to My Dining Room?

The Christmas lights are up outside, inside the decorations are all over the house and we have a real tree.  The smell of the tree really gets me into the holiday spirit and having the tree up means one thing to my kids…. IT’S TIME TO GET OUT THE TRAINS! For their very first Christmas, each of my kids was given their very own Lionel Train set from their aunts and uncles.  It’s one of those gifts that my kids will always cherish.  Every year when they pull them out of the garage, it’s like they are playing with them ...

Halloween Wrap Up 1

Halloween has past, the hype is over, the clean-up continues and the candy once again has found it’s way to my kitchen counter still in the pillow case from two nights ago.  Most likely a few pieces will be eaten (by me that is) and then we will donate the pile.  Two of my kids this year didn’t even trick or treat, they did dress up but stayed around the house to scare the trick or treaters.  The other two went trick or treating with their friends without mom following behind, leaving me feeling old and left on the porch to hand ...

The First Day of October

Oh Christmas Tree!!

The day after Thanksgiving all the bins containing our holiday decorations were scattered throughout the garage.  Strings of lights were all over, garland was piled up, inflatables were pulled out their boxes, it was a chaotic scene.  By the end of the day, the outside of the house was lit up, ornaments were hanging on the tree, nutcrackers lined the top of our cabinets and the holiday season had officially begun in our house.  Yesterday, one of my sons was sitting at the counter eating breakfast when he said to me, “Mom, I LOVE getting all decorated for the holidays and the house looks great ...

Halloween Fun

Halloween costumes for my four kids and the dog…$100 Buying more decorations because the kids think our house isn’t scary enough…$100 Spending an hour of “mom-time” with my kids “Booing” all our friends in the neighborhood at 8 pm on a Tuesday night and being the only one to wipe out running after ringing the doorbell…PRICELESS! (yup, my fault we got caught on that one, but hey, that’s the shit my kids will remember!)
