I Have to Collect Urine From the Dog, Really?

Yesterday afternoon the vet called me to let me know that she needed an early morning urine sample from my beagle to complete her “senior panel.”  I responded with, “Are you kidding me?”  A stool sample, that’s easy to collect, but urine? I posted my predicament on Facebook and my wonderful friends gave me some advice to complete my task. A baggie and a ponytail holder. Follow him around the yard with a Tupperware bowl and then catch the pee when he lifts! Old disposable pie pan, when they squat push it under them, lol. Why can’t the vet do ...

Fruit Snacks and Dogs, Not a Good Combination

I had something happen on the way home from dropping the kids off at school this morning that I had to share.  It’s one of those things that, at the time it was happening, I was so ticked off but two hours later I’m laughing at it and I SO wish I would have taken a picture! Our two dogs love to go in the car every morning to make the trip over to school.  Once all the kids are finally out, the dogs jump up to the front passenger seat and hang out the window.  Today, only one of ...

Rattlesnake Bite – Update

First of all, thank you for everyone that was so concerned about little Morgan after he was bitten by a rattlesnake:) The latest update – my little shadow is back to normal and the whole family is relieved.  The 10 lb tyrant is once again barking at all the dogs in the neighborhood on our walks, eating like crazy and following me all around the house.  Right now he’s lounging in the bean bag chair with me in the office and as usual, farting up a storm! www.mommywarriors.com

A Nice Relaxing Thanksgiving

Thanksgiving was a great day with family and friends in our house this year.  The food all came out pretty good and once again we all ate far too much.  We did nothing more than eat and relax, even the dog! There was no pressure to have to get anywhere or do anything, just eat and enjoy. I hope everyone had a great holiday weekend, I know we sure did! www.mommywarriors.com

Vacation Time = Nap Time

Day 2 RV Summer Road Trip (cont) not very often that parents get to take a nap, especially going down the road at 70 miles an hour in a motorhome with ten people.  With TVs on, dogs barking and kids playing games, the noise level was certainly not at its lowest.  But, a few of our passengers were able to make it happen.  This one, now she’s more like me, she can nap anytime, anywhere.  I think, laying on a concrete slab, she could easily fall asleep.  Fast asleep on the bottom bunk with music and sunglasses on, we were ...

Stinky Breath??

My husband’s company is launching some new tortilla chips baked with fresh vegetables in them.  The other night we were sitting with some friends around the kitchen and sampling all the new chips.  I prefer the sweet onion over the red pepper and jalapeno, so I ate quite a few.  A few hours later I was laying in bed and I started smelling a strong onion smell.  Could it be that I ate so many chips that my breath was really that bad?  Should I tell my husband that the chips leave you with really strong bad breath? The next thing I know I hear ...

The Pictures Kids Take

My two youngest boys have their own camera and every now and again, they ask me to download their pictures for them.  I always laugh at what I find on there. The dogs sleeping; Model cars; The ripped apart dog squeaky Like a good mom will do, I ask no questions and just download them and put them in their own picture file!

One Cast Off…

And it was almost another one on today, or so I thought.  Not for one of the kids, but one of the dogs.  After the kitchen floor was mopped, the dogs decided to run through the kitchen slipping and sliding all the way.  Not sure what happened to little Morgan, our Dachshund, but the next thing I see is him laying on the kitchen floor wimpering not putting any weight on his front paw.  After I checked him out and had him on my lap for a while, I tried to have him walk on it.  Nope, it wasn’t happening, ...

What is That? 1

My daughter and I went on a little field trip the other day and brought home a surprise.   Unfortunately, we when arrived home, no one was there.  We had to wait an hour until the rest of the family got home.  The boys walked into the kitchen and smiled ear to ear, my husband, on the other hand, took one look at this… and said…”What the he#* is that?”  This is our new addition, Morgan is a little 13 lb Dachshund that came from the Southern California Dachshund Rescue.  With the state of the economy being in the toilet, one of ...
