I Have to Collect Urine From the Dog, Really?

Yesterday afternoon the vet called me to let me know that she needed an early morning urine sample from my beagle to complete her “senior panel.”  I responded with, “Are you kidding me?”  A stool sample, that’s easy to collect, but urine? I posted my predicament on Facebook and my wonderful friends gave me some advice to complete my task. A baggie and a ponytail holder. Follow him around the yard with a Tupperware bowl and then catch the pee when he lifts! Old disposable pie pan, when they squat push it under them, lol. Why can’t the vet do ...

Sugar and Spice, but Not Always Nice: One Woman’s Quest to Put an End to Mean Girls 1

Mommy Warriors Interview with Dana Kerford –  Founder of GirlPower We hear it over and over again.  Boys are so much easier to raise than girls.  Boys are basic.  Their needs are obvious.  Their school conflicts are usually resolved quickly.   Girls,  on the other hand,  are complicated.  They’re emotional and sensitive.  Their school conflicts can last weeks,  months,  years, and because these complicated beings are trying to have friendships with other complicated beings,  all hell often breaks loose. Dana Kerford,  founder of GirlPower,  teacher and mother,  is making it her life’s mission to help girls around the world navigate ...

Renewing Your Family Bond 2

I just returned my from annual “Weekend with the Girls” trip.  Once a year I go away for the weekend with my 6 or 7 closest friends from college.  We live all over California and come together leaving kids and husbands behind for a few days of relaxation while we talk about our lives and where we’re all going.  There are often tears as one or more of us talks about the things that are causing stress.  Sometimes it’s money, sometimes it’s other friends, but usually it’s the family.   There is lot’s of advice tossed around.  We rally and ...

Mom I’ll Eat the Whole Thing, I Swear!

My two younger kids had a minimum day and decided to go to lunch with their friends.  Their place of choice was Fatburger.  For those of you who don’t know, Fatburger offers burgers from a size small to XXXL (their triple king challenge). My kids are always begging me to take the XXXL Challenge and my answer is “NO”.  Why should I waste money on a ridculously sized hamburger for them to gorge themselves until they puke. Yesterday, when mom was NOT present, one of them decided to go for the XXL, thinking he was totally cool.  By the time ...

Giant Slip N Slide is Awesome!

Just an fyi…. If you are looking to rent a fun inflatable for an upcoming party, you HAVE to get a giant slip n slide. Kids of all ages, adults too, will have a ball sliding across this thing.  We had party for 70 kids to celebrate the end of school and with a pool, dunk tank, trampolene and the giant slip n slide, and hands down, the slip and slide was the bomb!  These two girls were on the slip n slide for hours and never got bored! www.mommywarriors.com

A Nice Relaxing Thanksgiving

Thanksgiving was a great day with family and friends in our house this year.  The food all came out pretty good and once again we all ate far too much.  We did nothing more than eat and relax, even the dog! There was no pressure to have to get anywhere or do anything, just eat and enjoy. I hope everyone had a great holiday weekend, I know we sure did! www.mommywarriors.com

Constitution Night – Getting Ready for the Challenge

My 8th graders are learning about the Constitution in history class.  The entire 8th grade (which is broken up into 3 teams) will be taking an exam on the topic next week called the Constitutional Challenge.  The team with the highest average score on the Challenge will win an ice cream party, bragging rights and will capture the flag for the rest of the school year to proudly hang in honor of their team. The kids are all very excited about it, as well as, the teachers!  The history teacher for my kid’s team hosted “Constitution Night” last night,  an ...

11/2/11 MommyWarriors Words of Wisdom

I have a few friends on Facebook that post some great daily posts that I just have to share with our readers as our MommyWarriors Words of Wisdom.  You will certainly get a chuckle when you read them.  Where do they come from…some they make up, others they find on the internet.  If they author is known, I’ll post, otherwise just read and get a good chuckle! Letting go of someone doesn’t mean you’re weak, it means that you’ve applied the choke hold correctly and you just wanted to make them pass out instead of kill them! www.mommywarriors.com

Maybe My Kids Will Be on a Future Olympic Bobsled Team…NOT!

Day 22 – RV Summer Road Trip Wow, the two moms were like Thelma and Louise yesterday, we drove more miles than we imagined, the name Mommy Warriors sure applied in our case!  We left Terre Haute, Indiana (and all the crap) in the morning and slept in a Walmart Parking lot somewhere in Kansas last night.  The kids had all fallen asleep while we were still driving and this morning I got up early and jumped right in the driver seat and the kids were still asleep. Our destination today…beautiful Colorado Springs.  It was still pretty dang hot and humid outside so ...
