The Last Soccer Game :(

Well, I guess it’s inevitable when you have kids that are into sports. This past weekend, I watched my daughter play her very last soccer game.    That’s her in the orange jersey and it was hard for me to not have tears in my eyes as the the last whistle blew (of course, I didn’t let her see the tears).  She started playing soccer when she was 5 years old and for 9 years I have been on the sidelines watching her play a game that she loves.  To all the great coaches she has had over the years, ...

The Best Soccer Penalty Kick Ever!

My daughter’s soccer team came in 3rd place in the California State Championship for the second time in two years.  Maybe if Coach Luci would teach them some REAL soccer skills like in the video below they can come home with the championship next year. Only kidding Coach, you are doing a wonderful job!

Recess Is So Boring Anymore :( 1

I guess gone are the days when kids can just go out and have some plain old fashioned fun at recess.  My two boys were complaining on the way home from school today how they don’t even look forward to recess anymore.  There are so many rules on what they can and can not do.  Boy, did I get an earful… -No tag whatsover, not on the blacktop, the grass or the turf on the track (that they aren’t allowed to use by the way)…someone may fall and scrape their knee or worse yet, get their clothes dirty; -No guarding ...

I Barely Survived Week One! 1

And so the fall sports season has begun and the bedlum of four kids playing sports has already put me in a frenzy.  After weeks of practices, and may I add many of them, the games officially started yesterday.  My husband was at the baseball field all day yesterday for tryouts so I was really put to the test.  Could I do it? 8:30 am – DB lacrosse clinic at Circle J; 9:30 am – drop off RB for fall baseball tryouts at Hart; 9:45 am – WB football game at Central; 10:45 am – get RB back for football game ...

Minivans…cool?? 2

I’ve been there and done.  Drove the mini van and was not proud of it.   SUre my SUV guzzles gas, but I feel safer with my kids and for the amount of time that I spend in it, I like the feeling that I think I’m driving a tank!   Anyway, interesting article below. The Minivan Got Cool Again For New Generation of Moms      By John Wilson A funny thing happened on the way to the car dealer – the minivan got cool again.  Perhaps it’s because people are done with the big gas-guzzling SUV or that they can get the same ...

Proud Parents 1

Well, the girls all-star soccer team may not have won the California State Championship title but placing third out of the whole state…well, that’s a mighty big accomplishment.  After suffering one loss the entire season, the parents of these girls are mighty proud, especially these two!  Congrats to all the girls on an awesome season!

They’re Going to the State Championship! 1

My chance to gloat here…I had to write about my daughter’s soccer team, being the proud mama that I am.  After a very stressful two days of screaming and cheering, biting every last fingernail I had, pacing the sidelines and taking pictures to try and calm my nerves, we watched our girls go undefeated in the section playoffs and become the 2010 AYSO Central California Section All-Star Champs out of the 16 teams that made it to the tournament.  They now advance to the State Championships later this month and we all have our fingers crossed.  I can’t even imagine how stressful that ...

One of My Kids Favorite Meals :) 1

Yesterday was one of those lazy Saturdays, which by the way are very few and far between in our house, where I didn’t want to put a lot of time and energy into dinner.   Well, honestly, that’s every night for me when it comes to dinner.  The kids were hungry, I had nothing prepared, and I had to decide whether to just order take out or not.  I had looked all through the pantry and was standing there looking in the fridge when the lightbulb went off.  I saw a bag of doritos in the pantry and some thinly sliced chicken breast in ...

Perfect Soccer Weather! 1

I really hope someday my kids appreciate all the things I do for them.  Take yesterday, for example, it’s March in Southern California, spring break season and the weather should be nothing more than sunshine. Kyra had a 9:40 am soccer game about an hour north and take note, the day before, the girls got sunburn, keep that in mind.  The weather at home was a bit windy with a slight drizzle so, I packed the appropriate clothes, or at least I thought.  The ride to the soccer tournament was slow, was raining and we passed more than a handful of cars that have slid off ...

Why Dads Enjoy Soccer Games 6

We usually spend our Saturdays at our kid’s soccer, football and baseball games.  While I do enjoy sitting out there cheering for my kids, I know my husband would much rather be home watching his college football and especially, his beloved Notre Dame.  Reluctantly, he goes to the games and ends up hovering with and chatting with the other dads.  I have noticed though that not all the dad conversations center around college football games and their scores the whole time.  I see my husband hanging with the dad wearing the ‘I LOVE SOCCER MOMS’ t-shirt and talking about one of ladies that ...
